Sex & Intimacy Therapy
Sex therapy is a form of professional counselling that supports individuals and couples in addressing concerns related to sex, intimacy, and relationships. It recognises that sexuality is not just physical—it’s also emotional, psychological, and deeply connected to how we experience ourselves and others.
Many people seek sex therapy to work through issues such as low libido, sexual pain, difficulty with arousal or orgasm, mismatched desire in relationships, past trauma, or shame around sex. Others may come simply to deepen connection, improve communication, or explore their sexual identity or desires in a safe space.
A sex therapist may use a variety of approaches, including talk-based therapy, psychoeducation, and somatic (body-based) practices. The somatic approach acknowledges that the body holds experiences and emotions, and helps clients reconnect with physical sensations, develop body awareness, and feel safe and present during intimacy.
Sex therapy is:
- Client-centred and adapted to individual needs
- Inclusive of all genders, sexual orientations, and relationship styles
- Trauma-informed and focused on consent, safety, and empowerment
It provides a supportive environment to explore sexuality without judgment, helping clients move toward greater ease, confidence, and connection—both with themselves and in their relationships.
