Clare O’Bree

Clinical Psychologist and Psychotherapist

Clare holds 18 years of experience as a Clinical Psychologist and Psychotherapist. She is also a board approved supervisor and has been extensively involved in the training and supervision of student and early career psychologists.

Clare’s approach is primarily relational, respecting the impact of early formative relationships and considering the ways patterns continue into the present. She is committed to empowering her clients to flexibly make change through greater understanding of themselves and their relationships. Therapy involves receiving opportunities to experience and practice new ways of being. Creativity runs through the therapeutic work, allowing space for imagination and collaborative exploration of new ideas.

In addition to a solid grounding in clinical psychology, Clare has trained and received extensive supervision in various methods including art therapy, psychodrama, parts work, emotion focussed therapy and relational psychotherapy. She has a deep understanding of family and social systems, and the impact of early trauma and attachment disruption.

Clare is passionate about providing respectful and emotionally attuned therapy for adult clients experiencing:

  • Anxiety, worry or uncertainty
  • Depressed mood, limited energy or low self-esteem
  • Lack of life direction or meaning
  • Trouble making sense of the past, or moving on from difficult experiences
  • Life transitions
  • Relationship or family concerns
  • Repeated challenges in relationships over time
  • Loss or significant change
