Dr Kate Naylor is a GP with a special interest in mothers and babies and breastfeeding. She is one of only a handful of doctors in Melbourne who also hold full certification as an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (first certified 2012). 

She likes to spend enough time with her mother-baby patient dyads to really figure out what is going on for them, and to find a patient-centred plan.  Her appointments are 1 hour; this includes assessment of factors within the pregnancy, birth, early post partum period, mother and baby health issues, and positioning and attachment whilst breastfeeding.

She can advise on medical conditions such as nipple and breast thrush, bacterial mastitis, over and under supply of breastmilk and hormonal imbalances; antenatal preparation for breastfeeding, and induced lactation for same-sex couples. She is able to assess and treat infant tongue tie (where it is deemed to affect breastfeeding success).
